Stella Lockhart
"Hello Stella." Mr. Sterling greeted me and I smiled, walking inside his office and sitting on the padded chair I'd become accustomed to.
"Hello." I mumbled, crossing my legs.
He sat.
"How have you been?"
"Okay."
"As in?"
"Insomnia."
"It's coming back?"
"Yeah I think so." I nodded.
"I'm sorry. Well, when did it begin?"
"Tuesday." I answered honestly.
He hummed.
I appreciated him. He recorded our meetings with my permission of course but it was just so he could be present instead of scribbling things down as I speak.
I felt heard.
"May I ask why?"
"I mean, I'm not sure. I wasn't too anxious."
"I could beg to differ." He smiled, adjusting his glasses.
He was pretty. A very masculine nerdy man. Black hair, greyish eyes, pretty, but you could tell he was smarter than the average man.
"I didn't feel it in my stomach though." I objected.
"That's not all you have though. Sure, it's a big factor since it causes pains and sick feeling symptoms but you shake, it may be in your mind or heart." He offered.
"I guess. I don't know. But you're also not exactly my therapist." I smiled.
"I understand that but it doesn't mean we can't talk about what's going on. Sure I primarily need to know changing symptoms to keep things as they should be but something is causing a little issue in your progress. I think I know what it is. You do to. I want to know why you're denying it." He tilted his head a bit.
"I don't know. I guess in my mind it's not too important."
"That's never true. Something is keeping you up. What are you not saying?"
"Nothing."
He tsked, ending the recording.
"Be honest with me, sweetheart. I won't revisit the bar. I'll make sure to remove myself from anything in your personal life. You got nervous the second you came to the table."
"Five intimidating-"
"Don't start. I know how you feel about men. I know how you feel about people. Don't blame it on that." He raised his eyebrows.
"Stop picking at your lip." He said and I did, hand falling to my lap.
"I don't know-"
"Did you like one of them?" He asked.
"Of who?"
"My friends." He replied.
"I mean-"
"Yes or no."
"Yes but for looks." I rushed out.
"There we are. And that's alright. It's been a while since you've tried dating." He relaxed.
"Dating is a stretch and it seems Lux and Axel are together and-"
"What makes you say that?" He smirked.
"He was touchy and overprotective in more than a brotherly or friendly kind of way."
He nodded.
"Observant. Good. Now after work what did you do?"
"Mmmm got home. Counted my tips total. Tried sleeping."
"What was happening in your head as you tried to sleep?"
"I don't-"
"You do know."
I groaned, embarrassed and frustrated.
"I don't know. When you guys met, you being bikers, all of that."
He sighed.
"I see you aren't into being honest with yourself or me. But all I can say, don't tell the melatonin gummies or any medication to make you sleep. You've done so much in the past that your body is finally returning to normal." He nodded.
"I know." I frowned, knowing that was going to be a difficult task.
"I'm happy with how far you've come. You're doing very well, Stella." He removed his glasses.
"Thank you." I sighed.
"Anything you want to cover?" He asked.
I chewed my lip.
"You all seem very close." I whispered.
He smiled.
"Mmhm."
"Let your lip go." He reminded.
I did.
"Do you live together?"
"Yes."
I nodded.
"If you come to the bar, I don't think it would be appropriate if you're my psychologist. Isn't that mixing professionalism with outside of work interactions considered inappropriate."
He shrugged.
"You gonna tell?" He stood, going into his mini fridge and handing me a water.
"No."
"Then I don't see a problem."
"Okay." I nodded.
"Anything more?"
"You keep smiling. That's means you're hiding something."
"Look at you, reading body language." He teased.
"What is it?"
"Too general."
"Does it go along the lines of Luxor and Axel being together?"
He shrugged.
"That's a yes."
"Why so curious?"
"Because it's interesting. I've never met a group of men like you."
He nodded.
"Are you guys like coupled? But there's five... that's uneven... I am so curious-"
"Have you ever heard of polyamory, Stella?" He asked.
"Is that what that is?" I asked.
"We are. All of us are technically together."
"Is it like an open relationship?"
"Mmmmm no."
"But you kept asking if I liked them?"
"Good catch. But five, masculine, testosterone filled men have certain... desires a woman fulfills perfectly."
I frowned.
"You all want a girl?" I asked.
"To share. Don't make it sound greedy." He teased.
"So you all are with each other and want a girl?"
"Mmhm."
"Why'd you ask if I liked any of them?"
"To see." He shrugged.
I squinted.
"Don't believe me?"
"Unfortunately I do."
He smiled, standing.
He offered a hand and I took it, standing.
"I'll see you soon, Stella. Have a good night." His hand found my back as he led me out.
Polyamory.
